Parents,
We are all set for our class field trip on April 18! Click here if you wish to chaperone.
Curriculum notes
HOMEWORK: We've completed our study of non-fiction books and will return to study characters in fiction books. The children will need your support with the NEW reading log. For the next few weeks, please go over the questions as you work through a fiction story. Take your time discussing each book as this is the BEST way you can support your child as we prepare for the end of grade benchmark tests.
Math
We've completed our study of fluency with addition to 20 using strategies NOT JUST MEMORY, such as: looking for the ten, number line, doubles, doubles +1, +2, fact family. If you know your child is still not fluent with addition to 20-continue to provide practice at home. For the next few weeks, we will dive into addition and subtraction with multiples of ten and solving for the unknown number: 6+___=11
Reading Fiction
In this unit, readers will envision as they read, and work on increasing fluency. They will synthesize all they know about characters and storylines to develop a deeper level of comprehension.
Writing
We will continue to use the tools and techniques we see authors use to write successful stories about our personal experiences.
Science
