We've started our writing How To unit with some fun in the classroom! We made leaf rubbings, applesauce and carved a jack-o-lantern then learned how to describe in baby steps how to explain this to another person through writing. Thank you for the yummy recipes, too!
Reading brings us to a study of non-fiction texts. We're learning about the text features and how they help us to better understand informational books. Homework will focus on non-fiction books for the next few weeks as well.
I am so proud of the 6 children running for student council: Claire, Joel, Shakell,, Lucy, Dexter and Hailey. They each made a very convincing speech today. We voted by secret ballot and our new representative is Lucy.
Next week we'll move on to adding 3 numbers in math then telling time to the hour and half hour when we return from break. PLEASE practice sums to 10. There are still quite a few children 'thinking' when solving these facts when it should be fast and fluent!
Have a nice weekend!
