It was so nice to see so many of you at our annual Traditions Celebration! We learned so much about you and your family traditions as the children presented their projects.
So many fun events coming up! We will have school again this Saturday and at that time celebrate the 100th day of first grade. The children will rotate through each first grade classroom, with an exciting way to celebrate the number 100.
On February 8th at 2:15 the children will perform a Winter Concert for you and your family to enjoy a variety of music, poetry and even a few jokes : ) Please plan to dress your child in jeans and a white top that day. Also, a scarf and mittens or gloves will make for a quick winter themed outfit for the show. I'll need a few treats for the reception after the show.
We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday February 10th. Here is a link to the class list so you can start preparing the Valentines. PLEASE take your time and neatly print the names on each Valentine. Send a box or bag to hold the treats. You may make one from a shoebox or decorate a gift bag (or buy one at the Dollar Store!)
Next week we will begin our study of 3D shapes. Start saving empty cans (cylinders) boxes (rectangular prisms and cubes) and cones for the GEO ANIMAL homework project the week of January 23rd.
Reading and writing are combined over the next few weeks for our research project! The children self- selected topics they had an interest in learning more about then checked out a book from the library to read at home. I will teach them how to take notes and combine their knowledge with some of the learned information to write an ALL ABOUT____ book.
